                 Moab River Rendezvous

                We will be planning our speakers and schedule for 2012 in the coming months and will update this page regularly.  If you have anyone you'd like to recommend or topic of interest, please feel free to drop us a line on our Contact page.

                2011 Schedule

                Brad Dimock joined us this year as Keynote Speaker and brought his replica boat, the Edith, for everyone to see and touch; Roy Webb returned to present historic river-running films we'd not seen before that included Warm Springs Rapid, Glen Canyon and Lodore, and we had a diverse group of great presentions.   Jack, of Jack's Plastic also did a wonderful boat repair clinic during lunch.

                10am to 4pm:           Riparian restoration service project & field trip 
                              Join us at the site of Plateau Restoration's long-term project at Jackson Bottom, near the Potash boat-ramp on the Colorado River, involving rehabilitation post-Tamarisk treatment.  Includes expert field presentations on issues related to Colorado River restoration techniques and efforts, including biologist, Wright Robinson, giving up to date information on effects of the beetle that was introduced at this site in 2004 to control Tamarisk. We'll also stop on the way back for interpretive field programs on archeology, ecology and geology.
                              Meet for transport and car-pooling at the Moab Information Center (corner of Center and Main) at 10:00am and return by 4:00pm or meet us at the site.  Lunch and all tools provided.

                                    Evening presentation featuring river historian and author, Roy Webb, University of Utah Marriot Library, at the historic STAR HALL, 159 East Center St. Moab.

                with expert guest instructors / authors.   Lunch and educational materials provided.  Chat with presenters, book sales and signings by authors, display of replica historic boats.  Raffle with tons of great stuff (wine, outdoor gear, books, etc.)

                9 am to 3 pm:           Interpretive Geology and Ecology of Dead Horse Point State Park 
                          presenters include geologist, Dr. Tamsin McCormick and ecologist, Dr. Tim Graham. 
                Lunch and transportation provided.  Optional hikes. 
                Meet at the Moab Information Center parking lot (corner of Center and Main, Moab) at 9 am.
